A murder was committed by a gang in just 60 seconds in Vyasarpadi. The startling evidence of the crime emerged from a closed circuit television (CCTV) footage.

On Thursday morning, D. Thyagarajan alias Thyagu, 36, a history sheeter from Madhavaram, was sitting in a driving school’s office on the first floor of a building. At 9.49 a.m, six persons, who came on three bikes, entered the premises wearing helmets and with knives in hand.

The next minute, they were seen hurriedly rushing out with their weapons soaked in blood. Two men could be seen concealing the weapons in their trousers.

On seeing unfamiliar men outside, the driving school owner Rajasekar, who had stepped out to buy tea, rushed back to his office and found Thyagarajan in a pool of blood.

The MKB Nagar police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Thyagarajan, who died on the spot.

Suspect in murder

Thyagarajan was an accused in murder cases, the police said. He was a key suspect in the 2015 murder of BSP worker Murali alias ‘Pothys’ Murali.

Joint Commissioner of Police Santhosh Kumar and Deputy Commissioner of Police C. Shyamala Devi formed special teams to trace the accused.

In the meantime, a few suspects surrendered before judicial magistrate court in Tiruvallur. The police is planning to take them into custody for investigation.
