Youth found dead under mysterious circumstances

A 22-year-old youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the premises of KPWD quarters in Jeevanbhima Nagar on Sunday.

While the police suspect that the deceased, identified as Arjun, may have died due to drug overdose, his friends allege that he was beaten up by a gang in the area recently.

Arjun was a college drop-out and reportedly a drug addict. According to the police, Arjun and his mother who was working as a housekeeping staff at ISRO were earlier residents of Jeevanbhimanagar. His mother then shifted their residence to HSR Layout to keep Arjun away from the bad company in the area, said the police.

Despite them shifting the house, Arjun kept frequenting Jeevanbhimanagar to meet his friends.

On Sunday noon, few residents of KPWD quarters spotted the youth’s body lying in their premises, and informed the police. The police shifted the body to Bowring Hospital for post-mortem and are questioning his friends to rule out any foul play.

Few of the deceased’s friends alleged that he was engaged in a brawl with another gang and Arjun was badly beaten up couple of days ago. “It looks like a case of drug overdose and there have been some complaints previously regarding these boys who abuse on whitener solutions and other vices; however, the cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem results come,” said an investigating officer.

A case of unnatural death has been registered in Jeevanbhimanagar police station and investigations are underway.
