A day after Geethavishnu surrendered before the Central Crime Branch (CCB), the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Wednesday granted bail to the grandson of liquor baron lake D.K. Audikeshavulu.

Police had produced him in court to seek custody for further questioning about the 110 grams of marijuana reportedly found in his luxury car.

The 27-year-old youth was on September 28 involved in a road accident in which six people, including three children, were injured, at South End Circle in Jayanagar. Police claim to have found marijuana in his car.

A day later, he escaped from Mallya Hospital, which is owned by his family.

The public prosecutor submitted that Vishnu was not cooperating with the investigation when he was in the hospital and that he had escaped from police custody. The CCB suspect him of being associated with a drug racket, and sought his custody for further investigation.

However, the defence counsel submitted that all the three cases are bailable offences and that his client is ready to co-operate with the investigation, which was the reason for surrendering to the police.

Hearing the submission, Vishnu was granted bail in all the three case: negligent driving causing injuries, Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act and escaping from police custody. The bail came with a ₹25,000 bond.

The CCB has summoned Vishnu, along with eight others, for questioning on Thursday.
