Two killed in road accident

A 23-year-old taxi driver and a hotel management graduate, who had come from Kottayam in Kerala to visit their friends in the city, were killed on the spot when a speeding tractor collided head-on with their vehicle on Kumdana cross near Devanahalli on the outskirts of the city on Sunday morning.

The deceased, Ajai Raj, taxi driver and his friend Appu Shaji (23) had come to the city on a bike to meet four friends, who are studying in a private college in the city. All of them visited Bannerghatta and other tourists spot in the city on three bikes. The accident happened when they were heading to Nandi Giridhama to view sunrise.

According to the police, they were riding towards Nandi hills, when a speeding tractor came from the opposite directions and collided with Ajai and Shaji’s motorcycle. The duo was thrown out of the bike and fell on the road. They sustained severe head injuries.

The friends rushed them to a near-by hospital, where the doctors declared them brought dead.

The Vishwanathapura police rushed to the spot and investigations are on to identify the tractor which sped away soon after the accident.
