Two people were killed in two separate road accidents in different neighbourhoods of Bengaluru on Tuesday. Rakshith (25) — a drama teacher and a resident of Mallasandra near Thalaghattapura — lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a parked truck near Anjanapura Double Road at 12.30 a.m. on Tuesday. The accident occurred when he was returning home after visiting a friend.

Eye-witnesses told the police that he failed to notice the truck and rammed into it from behind. The impact was so great that he was flung from the motorcycle and sustained severe head injuries.

There are unconfirmed reports that Rakshith was not wearing a helmet, but holding it on one hand when the accident took place. The driver of the truck, who is currently absconding, had not switched on the parking lights, a senior police officer said.

A 30-year-old private firm employee was killed after an unidentified vehicle mowed him down near Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital at Hebbagodi in the city on Tuesday morning. The police said that Akshay Kamath, a native of Mangaluru and a resident of Chandapura, was on his way to work when he was mowed down and crushed to death, the police said. Passers-by rushed him to a near-by hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police are trying to trace the vehicle.
