Three arrested for attacking Manipuri youth

The Viveknagar police arrested three youth on Wednesday for attacking a 24-year-old Manipuri youth on Sunday at Viveknagar Main Road.

According to the police, the arrested have been identified as Prabhu (24), Prashanth (24) and Yogi alias Mental Yogi (23), all unemployed youth residing in Ejipura.

On Sunday evening, the victim Hosea was walking back home when the three youth stopped him and started teasing him and took away his cap. Hosea objected and asked them to leave him alone. The youth, who were reportedly drunk, started assaulting him. When Hosea tried to resist, one youth took out a blade and slashed his hand and face.

Passers-by, who noticed the trio attacking Hosea, intervened. Sensing trouble, the accused escaped from the spot. Hosea returned home and narrated the incident to his friend, who took him to a hospital. The doctors alerted the police since it was a medico legal case.

Based on physical descriptions provided by Hosea, the Viveknagar police managed to nab the trio and remanded them to judicial custody.
