The HSR Layout police have booked a 28-year-old teacher of a private school for chopping off the fingers on her husband’s right hand over a trivial row at their apartment in Kaikondrahalli, near Sarjapura Road, on Saturday.

The incident came to light when a severely bleeding Suresh Kumar (name changed), a techie, went to a private hospital and narrated his ordeal to the hospital authorities, who alerted the police.

The HSR Layout police rushed to the spot and inquiries revealed that Mr. Kumar caught his wife Shailaja (name changed) sharing obscene texts with her friends. The police said that Shailaja reportedly took objection to Mr. Kumar checking her phone.

Heated arguments ensued between the two and it took an ugly turn when Shailaja, in a fit of rage, slashed Mr. Kumar's fingers with a kitchen knife.

Mr. Kumar, who underwent surgeries on his right hand, is said to be recovering. The police have summoned Suneetha for questioning.
