The Special Investigation Team, constituted to investigate allegations of corruption in the office of the Lokayukta, began its probe on Monday and collected documents pertaining to the case from the officials concerned.

Sources said that a team of officials visited the Lokayukta office to take documents, including telephone records, copies of the FIR and the probe conducted by Lokayukta officials so far.

The team also discussed with officials of the Lokayukta police, who probed the case initially.

“We will study the material and decide the future course of action,” a senior police officer said, adding that the SIT would also summon the officials involved in the probe, the complainants, and the suspects for questioning.

Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) Kamal Pant, who is heading the investigation, refused to divulge details.
