An attendant of a vehicle service station died due to electrocution while a truck driver sustained burn injuries, when the vehicle he was cleaning came in contact with a live wire in Devanahalli on Friday.
Lokesha (30), a native of Tumakuru, was cleaning the container of a truck when the accident occurred at Maruthi Service Centre that he had joined six months ago. The police said that while Lokeshs was inside the container, the driver Subhash Singh Yadav (28), climbed on top of the container to check if everything was all right. His head accidentally touched a high tension wire and the entire container was grounded by the electric current that passed through him.
Lokesha died on the spot while Yadav suffered severe burn injuries. Upon hearing screams, other workers at the station rushed to help. Lokesha was declared brought dead at the hospital while Yadav was asked to be shifted to Victoria Hospital for treatment.
Based on the complaint filed by Lokesha’s father Ranganath, a case of negligence has been registered against Yadav and Venkatesh, owner of the service centre. Further investigations are on, the police said.
