Select district hospitals to be recognised as retrieval centres

The State government is planning to recognise select district hospitals as organ retrieval centres. Besides this, government medical colleges in Mysuru, Hubballi and Ballari are also likely to be upgraded as transplant centres for the benefit of patients in those regions. Confirming this to The Hindu , Health and Family Welfare Commissioner P.S. Vastrad said a decision would be taken shortly. “We discussed the issue with the Health Minister and the Principal Secretary on Thursday. A final decision will be taken soon,” he said.
