The Jnanabharathi police on Monday rescued a civil contractor from Suratkal allegedly abducted by a land dealer and kept in illegal detention for a week as he owed money to the latter.
A Hoysala patrol which spotted Ismail screaming while being bundled into a car in Jnanajyoti Nagar by the family of the accused, Krishne Gowda, chased the car and rescued him.
Detained
The police detained Mudalaiah, Krishne Gowda’s father, and his driver, Anand. The police said that Ismail had come to recover Rs. 5 crore due to him from his business contacts in Bangalore.
He approached Krishne Gowda, a real estate dealer who runs a nursing home and a school in Chandra Layout. The latter offered to use his clout in recovering the dues and persuaded Ismail to stay in his house for a few days.
Meanwhile, Ismail, suspecting Krishne Gowda’s intentions, had a fight with him. Krishne Gowda then forcibly detained him in his house demanding Rs 1.5 crore for his safe release, which, according to him, was his expenses and commission.
“We have handed the arrested men over to the Suratkal police as a kidnap case has been registered there,” Jnanabharathi Police told The Hindu . A search is on for Krishne Gowda.
