Cases have been booked against four men in connection with blocking the Kolar–Bangalore Cantonment Passenger (train no. 76506) on Friday near Byappanahalli, which, in turn, disrupted the schedule of many trains.
The Railways said passengers unlawfully blocked the track for more than 70 minutes before the Railway Protection Force (RPF) intervened.
Five other trains leave Bangalore in the morning around the same time the Kolar-Bangalore train travels towards the city. However, the passenger train has to halt for a few minutes due to a signal crossing at Byappanahalli. On Friday, passengers protested against the delay and demanded that their train be allowed to travel towards the city before other trains and squatted on the tracks.
Railway authorities have appealed to passengers not to disrupt train movements that have a domino effect on other trains.
