After months of waiting for a safe pedestrian crossing on the Bellandur-ORR stretch, the BBMP has finally approved the Sanjaygiri skywalk in its recent Council meeting.

In November last year, a 19-year-old security guard working in an apartment complex died on the spot while trying to cross the road on the Outer Ring Road stretch in Bellandur, prompting protests by residents. Soon after, the Palike had promised to construct a skywalk.

Nonetheless, there was an inordinate delay by BBMP in processing the work order for the same. The Palike has finally cleared the proposal.

Mayor Sampath Raj said the work order would be issued soon.

Kishori M., a resident of Bellandur and a member of Bellandur Jothege, said the citizens were happy with the outcome of their struggle to ensure a safe space for pedestrians.
