South Western Railways on Wednesday introduced a special DEMU (Diesel Electrical Multiple Unit) from Ramanagaram to Bengaluru. A SWR official said the new service would be temporary and may be continued based on the feedback.
K.N. Krishnaprasad, who was among the first to have given a representation to the Railways, said three pairs of MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) trains were proposed in the 2014-15 budget and included in the current timetable.
While the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed the new train, it renewed its demand for extension of the Nelamangala–Yeshwantpur DEMU to Whitefield or Bangarpet.
