A 32-year-old private firm employee was hacked to death by a group of armed men over a trivial row in Mahalakshmi Layout on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Manoj, a resident of Someshwara Nagar. According to the police, Manoj was with his friend Swaroop, an assistant producer of a Kannada movie who had a financial problem with his colleague Ramu.
On Thursday night, Swaroop allegedly had a heated argument with Ramu, who, along with his associates, attacked Swaroop and Manoj and fled the scene.
While Swaroop escaped with minor injuries, Manoj was killed on the spot. Passers-by rushed Manoj to the nearest hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
The Mahalakshmi Layout police have registered a case of murder and efforts are on to track the assailants.
