A 40-year-old man was convicted on Saturday and sentenced to three-and-a-half years of imprisonment and to imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 by a city sessions court for molesting a six-year-old in November 2012.

The man, identified as C. Narasimharaju alias Narasimha, is a resident of Siddhartha extension, Katriguppe in Banashankari III Stage of Bengaluru south.

The second additional city civil and sessions judge M.K. Hajawagol ordered that the convict will have to undergo further 12 months ‘simple imprisonment’ if he fails to pay the fine. From the amount of fine, Rs. 8,000 will be paid to the victim.

The convict, Narasimha, had separated from his wife after 15 years of marriage and was living alone in a rented house in Siddhartha extension.

On October 27, 2012 around 4 p.m., Narasimha, on the pretext of playing with the six-year-old girl from the neighbourhood, took her to his house and tried to rape her.

At that moment, the girl’s grandmother came to his house with other neighbours and caught him red-handed and thrashed him. The accused managed to escape fearing arrest. On November 4, 2012 the accused returned home only to be caught by police.
