The Karnataka Government would develop 634 km of roads in the State with Rs. 1250 crore loan from Asian Development Bank, Minister for Public Works C.M. Udasi said on Friday.
The 68 km Magadi-Dobasept road, 23 km Pavagada stretch upto Andhra Pradesh border, 108 km Gubbi-Chandrasekharapura were some roads identified, he told reporters here.
14 km from Jagalur upto State Highway No. 19, Padubidri-Karkala on a 27 km length, 53 km Davanagere-Santhebennur, 57 kms of Chennagiri-Birur and 21 km between Badami-Pattadakal will be also taken up, he said.
The government has decided to lay cement roads in Ghat sections of Shimoga, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Hassan spending Rs. 100 crore, he said.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting he held here today, in which Home Minister Dr V.S. Acharya, who hails from Udupi district participated.
Mr. Udasi admitted there were pending bills to the tune of Rs. 1,000 crore to contractors in his department as the government executed more works.
He said Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa would chair a meeting here on August 9 to discuss pending bills and to initiate steps to clear them.
