“I am shocked. I didn’t expect the award,” this is how ‘Sanchari’ Vijay, who bagged the national award for best actor for Naanu Avanalla, Avalu reacted to the news on Tuesday.
“I never expected the award as stalwarts including Aamir Khan and Shahid Kapoor were also in the race,” he said, adding, “now I have the mixed feeling of shock and surprise.”
Vijay, who has acted in a few low-budget films, said, “Spending a few days with transgender persons helped me in developing my character in Naanu Avanalla, Avalu .”
The word ‘Sanchari’ got attached to his name as he was associated with the theatre troupe for nearly a decade.
