After lab tests showed high level of lead and antibiotics in samples

The European Union has banned the import of branded honey from India after laboratory tests showed a high level of lead and antibiotics in the samples, according to Asit Tripathy, chairman of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority.

Speaking to journalists here on Friday, he said most foreign countries, including European nations, have stringent residue limits, and branded honey from India has “obviously not met their standards.”
