To bring in transparency and ensure quality works by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the newly appointed administrator T.M. Vijay Bhaskar and Commissioner G. Kumar Naik are contemplating setting up an expert committee.
Chairing a meeting of zonal commissioners and engineers along with Mr. Naik on Tuesday, Mr. Bhaskar noted that works should be taken up based on availability of funds and priority must be given to delivery of essential services.
He directed chief engineers to submit details of works that have been sanctioned at the zonal and ward levels, those that are yet to be taken up, those in progress and those that have been completed, besides putting them up on the BBMP website. Before bills of completed works are sanctioned, there should be three levels of inspection – a spot inspection by a team of engineering students followed by verification of documents pertaining to the works at the BBMP head office and finally, verification at banks before release of funds.
Mr. Naik stressed on quality of works and directed officials to complete the road history by uploading details of all roads that have already been mapped by GIS. He said that the khata registration process should be simplified and documents to be furnished for the same should be made available in the public domain.
Officials were directed to take steps towards implementation of e-property scheme that has been initiated by the State government.
