Court notice on BMRCL recruitment

Published - May 24, 2013 11:42 am IST - Bangalore:

The Karnataka High Court on Thursday said interviews for some of the executive posts in Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) would be subject to litigation in cases the selection process has been challenged.

A vacation division bench headed by Justice H. Billappa passed the order on a public interest litigation petition filed by Bajantri Madappa, advocate and social activist.

The petitioner had complained that BMRCL has either not followed the rules pertaining to reservation of posts or has misunderstood the rules. He sought for a direction to the government to formulate common rules of recruitment in the BMRCL and provide a level playing field to all sections of society.

The petition contended that as per rules, all contract hiring, including temporary appointments exceeding 45 days are subject to reservation norms.
