The committee formed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) inspected Bellandur lake and its inlet points on Saturday. The committee was formed to monitor measures being taken to prevent fires that plague the lake.

The committee, led by senior advocate Raj Panjwani, inspected Bellandur lake, and asked BDA and BBMP officials to submit their reports on the cause of repeated fires in the lake within a week. It also inspected the stormwater drain in ST Bed Layout, Koramangala, a private STP of an apartment on the banks of the lake and the STP on the Koramangala-Challaghatta valley.

Mr. Panjwani later met the officials concerned and asked departments to address various questions raised by the NGT in its recent order. The BBMP has been asked to estimate the quantum of sewage, solid waste and construction debris let or dumped into the lakes over the years.
