The BJP raised fresh cases of denotification of land in Bengaluru, against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleging that he had illegally denotified 2.39 acres set aside for open spaces/park at Siddapura near Asoka Pillar in Jayanagar in the city.

Speaking in the Assembly on Friday, Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar alleged that the plot earmarked for the open space was denotified by Mr. Siddaramaiah on November 12, 2014, by violating the Karnataka High Court orders and Urban Development Department rules. He had signed the file put up then Urban Development Principal Secretary K.S. Satyamurthy for change of land use.

According to the Urban Development Circular 2010, change in the use of land earmarked for open space can be done only after the approval of the Committee for Metropolitan Planning. However, the file related to change of land use was not placed before the committee, which had not met in the last seven months, Mr. Shettar said.

He also alleged that the Chief Minister had illegally denotified two plots measuring 7.15 acres and 2.06 acres at Doddakalasandra at Banashankari V stage, and demanded a probe into the cases.
