Bharatiya Janata Party Deputy Floor Leader in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashok on Wednesday charged the government with character assassination of deceased IAS officer D.K. Ravi by spreading rumours about his relationship with his wife.

Raising the issue as soon as the Assembly met in the morning, Mr. Ashok alleged that on the one hand, the government had failed to protect the honest officer and on the other, it was spreading rumours about his character.

Pointing out that the deceased’s father-in-law had made it clear that such allegations were false, he asked the government to desist from such character assassination and warned that such an act would only increase the anger of people who were protesting in several districts.

On the one hand, the govt. has failed to protect the honest officer and on the other, it is spreading rumours about his character.
