Namma Metro, the only operating public transport system, did not seem to gain from the cut in BMTC services on Wednesday. Reach 1 (M.G. Road to Byappanahalli) saw 13,672 people using the service while Reach 3 (Sampige Road to Nagasandra) saw 16,007 passengers. The total of more than 36,700 people is far lower than the average number of commuters (50,000) on weekdays.

“The reduced number of commuters could be because people may not get the last mile connectivity from the metro station, which dissuaded them from using the service,” said U.A. Vasanth Rao, General Manager (Finance).
