Angered by the sight of palike workers picking up garbage with their bare hands, Vijay Bhaskar, newly-appointed administrator of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has directed officials to provide all workers with gloves and safety boots within 24 hours.

Mr. Bhaskar and Commissioner G. Kumar Naik inspected D.J. Halli and S.K. Garden on Wednesday. During the interaction with the officials, residents pointed out the difficulties of traversing the main road after Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board dug the road to lay pipelines nearly 10 months ago.

While directing officials to undertake the repair works quickly, officials told the residents that Rs. 2.8 crore had been sanctioned for the construction of a storm water drain to address flooding woes in the area.
