Bangalore’s biggest convention centre has come up on the campus of the University of Agricultural Sciences. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday inaugurated the centre whose main hall has the capacity to seat 2,000 people. Its inauguration marked the valedictory of the university’s golden jubilee celebrations.
The convention centre, which has three auditoriums, is modelled on Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan. According to university authorities, about Rs. 21 crore has been spent on the centre so far.
Ann Widdowson, daughter of Canadian entomologist Leslie C. Coleman who was the architect of the Karnataka’s agricultural education system, and several innovative farmers were honoured.
