Bangalore University has been instructed to transfer ₹10 crore to BCU and ₹15 crore to BNU.

Soon, teaching and non-teaching staff of Bangalore University will have the option of getting a transfer to the two new universities — Bengaluru Central University (BCU) and Bengaluru North University (BNU). In an official order, the Higher Education Department has said that the parent university has to get an opinion from all their staff about any transfer to other universities.

The department has allocated movable and immovable assets to the parent varsity, BCU and BNU. It has instructed the parent university to transfer ₹10 crore to BCU and ₹15 crore to BNU.

As per an order, all the properties and buildings in Central College, along with the land documents, should be transferred to BCU.

However, one point in the order has not gone down well with the parties concerned. The order states that the Natural Science Block in the Central College campus should be handed over to the parent university for conducting examinations and evaluation.

BCU Vice Chancellor S. Japhet has appealed to the government to rethink its decision, as it is the only building where they can start new departments. All the other buildings are heritage structures.
