Another case of child sexual assault surfaces

December 03, 2014 02:52 pm | Updated April 07, 2016 02:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the peon in the school premises in eastern part of the city on November 26.

The incident came to light when the parents took the girl to a local doctor after she complained of body ache three days later. To their shock the doctor confirmed that the girl had been sexually assaulted.

Following a complaint by the parents, the Rammurthy Nagar police counselled the victim and picked up 27-year-old peon, Nagraj, on November 30.

The incident not only shows the repeated incidents of sexual assault on children but also lapses on part of the school management to implement safety guidelines issued by the police.

City police Commissioner, M.N. Reddi had earlier issued a set of guidelines which included keeping the male staff of the school away from the children including bus drivers, peons and security guards.

Though the police have booked a case against Nagraj under rape and various section of POCSO Act, they are yet to act against the school for violating the safety guidelines.
