This weekend, dreams will come true for food lovers in Bengaluru as three of the world’s biggest culinary giants of MasterChef Australia fame — Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan — come to town for an international food festival with a difference.

The ‘World On A Plate’ festival, to be held on June 4 and 5 at JW Marriott Bengaluru and UB City, is brought together by Gold Rush Entertainment with The Hindu as media partners.

The three gourmet experts will not just give foodies a chance to interact with them, but also take them through their signature dishes albeit with an Indian twist.

It’s the food and the people that bring the trio chorus back every time. “It’s fireworks in India,” Gary told The Hindu . “The explosion of masalas and spices blended with the colourful textures and flavours of the Indian cuisine is something we will never get anywhere else on the planet.”

George pitched in, “I’m excited to be back! I can’t wait to sample more of my favourite dishes here, masala dosas, vadas and jalebis. I’m looking forward to sharing my insights with food lovers in Bengaluru.”

Matt, on the other hand, had a word of advice for foodies who come to the festival. “Be prepared to be amazed! This is going to be a roller coaster culinary ride. I will be plating a Coorgi-style chicken dish that will ring bells for Bengalureans with its South Indian connect.”

The World On A Plate festival will see the celebrity chefs take exclusive masterclasses and walk guests through the preparations of their signature dishes on the first day.

On June 5, head chefs from across the city will compete in a cook-off with the winning dish being decided by Matt, George and Gary in a blind tasting. The winner will take home the Restaurant of The Year award. A people’s choice is also scheduled to take place.
