A 15-year-old girl, studying in 10th standard in a government school in Bangalore Rural, was allegedly drugged and gang-raped on the outskirts of the city on Sunday night.
The police said that the incident occurred when the girl was returning home after watching an orchestra at her village in Doddabelavangala police station limits.
The girl was among a large number of villagers who watched the orchestra organised in connection with Rajyotsava, the police said.
The orchestra came to an abrupt end when power went off and the girl started walking back home.
In her complaint to the police, the victim said that a group of four persons intercepted her and took her to an isolated place where they allegedly raped her. She also divulged the names of two of the accused who are from the same village. The police acted swiftly and arrested the two.
The girl said that the accused, before allegedly raping her, forced her to drink “juice” after which she became unconscious. On Monday morning, a few villagers, who saw her lying in the isolated place, shifted the girl to her house.
Her parents brought the girl to Victoria Hospital here from where she was directed to the jurisdictional government hospital. She was admitted to the Doddaballapur government hospital later.
The police said that doctors at the government hospital confirmed that she had been raped.
The police have picked up some more youth for questioning. “We will subject them to a medical test to confirm if they were involved in the rape,” a police official said. The Doddabelavangala police station have registered the case.
