A two-day national mid-term Continuing Medical Education (CME) on ‘Emerging trends in psychiatry – experts perspective’ is being organised jointly by the Visakha Psychiatric Society and the Government Hospital for Mental Care here from Saturday.

A national-level workshop on ‘psychiatry’ was being held in the city after a gap of more than three decades. Renowned psychiatry specialists from Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Mysuru, Manipal and Srinagar were expected to participate, workshop organising chairperson N.N. Raju and organising secretary GVS Murthy told a media conference here on Friday.

Recent development in attributing behavioural abnormalities to brain pathology had helped in identifying many factors that contribute to pathology.

Around 800 delegates from various parts of the country have registered for participation in the conference.
