VPT advised to start solar power plant by Feb. 1

Additional Secretary, Ministry of Shipping Alok Srivastava on Wednesday reviewed the progress in the establishment of 10 MW solar power plant being taken up by the Visakhapatnam Port Trust and asked it launch work by February 1.

VPT is first among major ports to go ahead with project to set up the plant in response to the directions of the Prime Minister to opt for green energy. Mr. Srivastava stated that VPT was a pioneer port in implementing the green energy among the major ports in introducing solar energy.

He reviewed the progress of the work done and passed necessary instructions to the officials of the VPT to take immediate steps to start the project by February 1 and to generate solar energy.

Landscaping

He also appreciated the Visakhapatnam Port Trust authorities for their efforts for landscaping and general improvements in infrastructure.

Port Deputy Chairman P.L. Haranadh, CVO Mujib Pasha Shaik, Chief Engineer A.K. Mehera, Chief Mechanical Engineer Satish Honnakkatte, Chief Accounts Officer R. Jayachandran and others were present.

Officials from Solar Energy Corporation of India, Jakson Eng Ltd, Noida and Limelite Advertising Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad also attended.
