The city is to host the 48 Annual National Convention of the Computer Society of India from December 13 to 15 this year.
The CSI Visakhapatnam Chapter which is hosting the convention in association with the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is gearing up for the mega event for the students, researchers and industry in IT and Computer Science domain. Over 1000 delegates are expected to participate in the convention that would have eight sessions spread over three days, president of CSI committee and Scientific Secretary to the Government of India S.V. Raghavan told media here on Monday.
The convention is focusing on computers in operations as more industries are adopting computers in the processes.
There would be sessions on IT security, forensics and cyber crime, big data and analytics, mobility, Internet of things, virtualisation, cloud and social networks, knowledge networks and e-Governance for rural areas, among others, Prof. Raghavan said.
Appreciating the CSI Visakhapatnam Chapter award for students excelling in academics, he said this was an example for all other 70 chapters to follow.
There would be a two-day CSI student convention in advance of the actual convention where 173 papers by research scholars would be presented.
The papers have been selected from out of 800 submissions, chairman of programme committee and vice principal Andhra University College of Engineering (Autonomous) P.S. Avadhani said.
These papers would be brought out as a springer volume, he added.
Two awards would be given away at the convention, one the IT Excellence Award for best innovation and the second the best e-Governance for Rural Areas Award.
The award would be selected by an independent committee of the CSI, convener programme committee and professor in ANITS S.C. Sathapathy said.
President elect of CSI H.R. Mohan, convener programme committee and DGM (IT) in RINL P.Chandra Sekhar, programme convener and senior manager in RINL Paramata Satyanarayana, a number of academics and chief executive officer of Dreamchip Pvt Ltd Gopi Kumar Bulusu were present.
