Two motorcycle lifters were arrested and seven stolen motorcycles, two mopeds and one chassis frame, all valued at over Rs 2.20 lakh, were recovered from them by the One Town Police.

Addressing a media conference in this regard on Tuesday, Assistant Commissioner of Police (East) D.N. Mahesh said that Shaik Aslam Khan (20) of Madhurawada and Gorle Appalaraju (30) of Prasad Gardens, both auto drivers, were friends.

They turned addicts to vices and decided to earn easy money as their earnings were not sufficient to meet their needs.

They hit upon a plan to use false keys to commit the thefts of two-wheelers. They stole the two-wheelers at various places under the limits of I, II, III and IV Town of Visakhapatnam City and Srikakulam I Town area.

The accused were arrested by SI (crime) A. Satya Rao and his team, under the supervision of One Town Inspector Syed Eliyas Mohammed, at Town Kotha Road junction on Tuesday and based on their confession the stolen vehicles were recovered.
