Two arrested in burglary cases

The city police on Friday arrested two persons in separate cases on charge of committing burglaries at various places in the city.

In the first case, Chebrolu Vijay Kumar alias Hemanth Kumar (32), resident of MVP Colony, was arrested.

According to CCS Inspector Y. Govinda Rao, the accused was an ex-offender having cases in MVP Police Station and PM Palem PS. He had been to jail and was released last year. Even after release, Vijay Kumar allegedly committed house break-ins and stole motor vehicles in Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam.

The police said the accused was driven out of house by his family for being involved in offences. He committed a number of offences in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram in the last one-and-a-half-years, the police added.

The police have recovered 350 gms of gold, 600 grams of silver and two motor cycles. A few more stolen gold ornaments are yet to be recovered.

In another case, the city police arrested one P. Manikanta (22), resident of Thatichetlapalem, who was involved in several petty offences and bike theft cases.

According to the police, the accused Manikanta is a DC sheet holder in Fourth town PS. A few months back, he was caught during an investigation, but he managed to escape from the clutches of police. After a close watch, the police nabbed him on Friday. The police recovered a few gold ornaments, cash, mobile phones from him.
