For those who like to discover the dynamics of teamwork at an early stage and utilise their vacation time effectively, the State-wide Echoes Summer Camp-2016 provided a great learning experience.

Staying away from home, over 165 students (Classes VI to IX) from across the State felt that the camp that concludes on Monday, created an opportunity to develop the art of sharing and added the much required fun element to their vacation which normally happens to be a lonely affair.

With the focus on assorted soft skills, including communication and time management skills, the eight-day long camp, presented by the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, Amaravati, gave a chance to the participants to consider skill development as an essential part of growing up.

“I aspire to become an IPS officer. This kind of grooming sessions will definitely go a long way in achieving my goal. The platform aided in refining my time management skills,” says J. Vikas Kumar, a Class IX student of A.P.S.W.R., Kurnool.

While Hyderabad-based managing partner of ICON HRD G.V.N. Raju gave insights into developing social, emotional and cognitive skills, a couple of corporate trainers explained the relevance of building confidence. “An exclusive edition under the label ‘Introduction to Life Skills’ has been brought out for the purpose. From practising yoga asanas to flipping through the chapters of emotional intelligence, goal setting and effective communication skills, the day’s schedule has been packed with numerous role plays,” says E. Aruna Devi, camp coordinator and Principal of the A.P.S.W.R. Centre of Excellence, Kommadi.

Striking friendship

Those who took part from various districts said the forum turned into a new destination to make friends.

“Taking part in brainstorming sessions and team activities helped us strike friendship with students from other places. Though this is the first time that we have stepped out of our hometown, it is worth exploring,” says Siri Chandana, a Class IX student from Nellore.
