Social worker Guduru Sita Mahalakshmi was presented the Kandukuri Veerasalingam Pantulu Memorial Award by CPI State assistant secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy at a function held at the Visakhapatnam Public Library on Friday.
Ms. Sita Mahalaskhmi was felicitated with a shawl and presented a memento and Rs.10,000 cash by the Visakhapatnam Cooperative Bank Chairman Chalasani Raghavendra Rao.
Ms. Sita Mahalakshmi’s contribution towards women’s development, programmes for orphaned children and to promote body donation came in for appreciation from the speakers.
A compilation of the short stories of 10 popular women writers was also released on the occasion.
Popular writers Malleswari, Jagaddhathri and AP Mahila Samakhya State general secretary P. Durga Bhavani, Abhyudaya Rachayathula Sangham (ARASAM) State general secretary Valluri Siva Prasad and city branch president Chandu Subba Rao spoke.
