If you are fond of Banaras and Pashmina silks, Silk and Cotton Fair is the right place to explore.

Sarthak Silk Handloom Welfare Society has roped in artisans from 15 States and set up 40 stalls for the festive season. One can either mix and match self-designed Banaras fabrics with plain silk cottons or design their own saris with the range of fabrics available.

Lucknow-Chikankari embroidered dress materials, cotton kurtis in bold and sober designs from Jaipur, and a range of saris like embroidered georgettes, Khadi, Chanderi, and Assam silk, among others are stacked at the venue.

Lockets in single turquoise and other semi-precious stones, combination of red-star and oxidised metal and brass with stone inlay works are on display. ‘Kangans’ with a blend of pearls and enamels, German silver with semi-precious stones and Rajasthan beads are sure to charm the funky shoppers. Lockets range from Rs.120 to Rs.750. Stone-studded anklets and Hyderabadi-pearl sets appear to be eye-catching.

Artisans from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Assam, Rajasthan, Hyderabad and other places have come together to sell their products at the manufacturer’s price, said organiser of the expo Vijay Chugh. “One can avail 20 per cent discount on handlooms and 10 per cent off on handicraft products for the festive season,” he said.

“Most of us may not get an opportunity to shop for the festive season visiting places. The fair creates an opportunity to explore products from different States at one place,” said noted actor Vizag Prasad after inaugurating the expo.

The fair is open at Maharashtra Mandal till January 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
