Architect Anil Laul gives presentations on the much needed infrastructure plans for flyovers at NAD, Maddilapalem and Gajuwaka and other junctions

Development of road infrastructure like widening of roads, setting of terminals, parking lots and construction of footpaths will ensure the smooth flow of traffic keeping in view the increasing movement of cargo, Managing Director of Sravan Shipping Services Private Limited G. Sambasiva Rao said.

At a roundtable conference on ‘Infrastructure development and challenges of Visakhapatnam city/VUDA limits’ here on Tuesday, Mr. Sambasiva Rao, who is also president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (Vizag Zone) underlined the need to lay greater emphasis on infrastructure development by involving all the stakeholders like the GVMC, VUDA and the city police as the cargo movement was expected to go up to 200 million tonnes by 2020.

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry D. Purandeswari said that she would take up the matter by involving all the departments concerned to make the city safe and sustainable in view of the projected future growth and of the city.

Police Commissioner B. Shivadhar Reddy briefed about the various efforts made by the city police to ensure safety on the roads through the ‘Arrive Alive’ campaign.

GVMC Additional Commissioner K. Ramesh, Chief Urban Planner, VUDA, Vidjullatha and Project Director, National Highway Authority, Vijayasree gave inputs for proper planning of the city roads. Vizag Journalists’ Forum President G. Srinubabu, Vizag Development Council leaders O. Naresh and Vishnu Kumar Raju and Prabhu Kishore of Varun Group spoke.
