The State government recently issued a GO making ration card sufficient as proof of income, and income certificate need not be submitted while applying for scholarship and admission into welfare hostels.
The validity period of income certificate was also extended to four years, Joint Collector J. Nivas said on Tuesday.
ePass successful
Distribution of ration material through Fair Price shops in the district through ePass was a success as 90 per cent of material in rural areas and 69 per cent in urban area has been disbursed, Mr. Nivas said. A ration card holder can draw his or her monthly quota from any ration shop under the ePass method.
Ration cards taken for other purposes and problem with Aadhaar cards were the reasons for the ePass distribution not being done 100 per cent.
To overcome the problem with Aadhaar card, seeding correction centres were set up in the Assistant Supply Officer’s offices. It was also noticed that same UID number was given for four to five ration cards and there were 20,000 to 30,000 such ration cards in the district and supply of ration to such cards was stopped, he said.
