Leaves, fruits, and plants to form images of Lord Ganesha made the exhibition of artist Sita Sudhakar’s paintings stand out.

The two-day exhibition organised by Visakha Steel Cultural Association (VSCA), in association with Ukkunagaram Club and India Infoline, was inaugurated by Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Chairman and Managing Director P. Madhusudhan at Ukku Club in Ukkunagaram on Saturday.

The works evoked admiration among schoolchildren and members of families of the Steel Collective, who went round studying the paintings that depict Indian cultural values and heritage.

Ms. Sita Sudhakar, a self-trained artist, has conducted a number of solo exhibitions across the country and abroad.

“Tapan Chandra Bhowmick guided me by teaching some skills, and I am fortunate to have received such accolades and acceptance for my works,” she said, thanking her husband and children for their constant encouragement and support.

After going round the exhibition, Mr. Madhusudan advised the children and family members of the Steel Collective to visit the exhibition and learn from the paintings, which are symbolic of Indian heritage and values.

He lavished praise on the efforts of the artist in understanding the cultural symbols and using them in her essays.

Donation

The artist and her husband donated Rs.1.50 lakh to the Sri Sathya Seva Trust, Ukkunagaram, for rebuilding the shelter that was damaged during Hudhud.

A. Krishnamurty and G. Ramakrishna received the cheque on behalf of the trust.

VSCA president S.N. Rao and secretary A. Kesava Rao, secretary of Ukkunagaram Club M. Satyanandam, assistant vice-president, India Infoline, G. Venkata Siva Sai, and VSCA committee members E. Srinivas and M. Satyanarayana were present.

There will be a workshop on painting for students on Sunday at the Ukkunagaram Club Party No. 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. It will be followed by distribution of prizes for winners of the painting competition held by the VSCA earlier.
