Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj, socio-cultural organisation of Odias residing in the city, observed Dola Poornima at the Jagannath temple complex on Daspalla Hills on Thursday.

Festival

The festival is observed on full moon day of Phalgun. During the festival, Lord Krishna and Devi Radha are traditionally taken in a palanquin to the mandap and put in swings (dola in Odia).

The celebration also marks spring (Basantostav).

In coastal Odisha, many gather in open grounds and participate in group songs.

Bhajans and kirtans were observed at the Jagannath temple complex in the evening.

Samaj president J.K. Nayak and secretary P.K. Biswal took part in the celebrations.
