Minor fire aboard Navy ship in dockyard

A minor fire was detected in one of the living compartments on INS Savitri in the Naval Dockyard here on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the Indian Navy here the fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit in the Sukanya class large patrol craft. It was brought under control by the duty staff on the ship. There were no casualties in this incident and only minor damage to fittings and personal belongings was reported.

There is no impact of the incident on the combat worthiness of the ship, according to the statement.
