The Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Visakhapatnam in collaboration with The Hindu organised a ‘walk for water' awareness campaign on the occasion of World Water Day on Monday to create awareness about the importance of water and how to conserve it by protecting and using it judiciously. The walk held on the Beach Road was flagged off by Mayor Pulusu Janardhana Rao.

The theme of the campaign was ‘Save Water for Next Generation'.

A leaflet was designed exclusively for the event to propagate the importance of water and was distributed to the visitors of the Beach Road and among the residential localities.

Mayor Janardhana Rao applauded the efforts of the organisers in highlighting such a crucial issue and spreading public awareness. He interacted with the senior citizen groups on the Beach Road and shared suggestions with them. During the walk, banners specially prepared to underline the importance of water conservation were taken out by the participants.

CGWB officer in-charge C.P. Prabhakar and Regional Manager of The Hindu, Visakhapatnam T.V. Suresh took part in the awareness walk. The campaign will also continue on Tuesday.

The CGWB, AP State Unit, also held a meet of scientists, academicians, professionals and students at Platinum Jubilee Guest House.
