Justice to Tsundur victims sought

Published - June 10, 2014 11:25 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The State and Central governments should file an appeal in the Supreme Court and ensure justice to the Dalits, who were killed in the Tsundur massacre, the leaders of the Left parties and Dalit organisations said at a round table meet organised at the CPI Office here on Tuesday.

CPI State assistant secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy said it was unfortunate that the massacre of Dalits at Tsundur 24 years ago was registered merely as an ‘attack’ instead of filing an SC/ST atrocities case. As many as 10 Dalits were killed in the attack.

A special court had sentenced 21 accused in the case to life imprisonment. The accused moved the High Court and got a verdict in their favour. He said that such judgments would shake the confidence of the people on the courts.
