Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari on Sunday called upon students, especially management students to be responsive to the needs of the country and help its development and growth. Stressing that innovation was the buzz word for achieving growth and development, she described India as the country of ideas and wanted students to convert it into a country of opportunities.
The Union Minister was the chief guest at the three-day All-India B-Schools Management Meet (AMITY 2010), organised by the Department of Commerce and Management Studies, to mark its platinum jubilee celebrations here on Sunday. Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University Beela Satyanarayana presided over the meeting. Nearly 2,000 management students from all parts of the country attended the meeting.
“India is a potential house of innovation. We need leaders at various stages to improve productivity. A leader does not do different things, he does things differently,” Ms. Purandeswari said, pointing out that in terms of employability MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) have more potential and here the leadership of youth was required and needed to be encouraged. She had also referred to what some sarcastically called conservative banking system in the country but asserted that it was this conservatism that had saved the country from the economic crisis that gripped the world.
The country has two sides viz., India reflecting development and Bharat representing the underprivileged and the poverty stricken, she said, exhorting students to care for both and live up to the expectations and aspirations of people of the country. Youth should help the country to achieve development and growth and make it a super power, she said, adding that management education should contribute in this respect.
Prof. Beela Satyanarayana recalled the role of Andhra University in producing globally reputed persons and urged students to work hard and get laurels. Youth should help build economically and socially strong India, he said. Chairman of AMITY Balla Appa Rao said the importance of management education had been increasing and urged students to make use of the present platform to improve their skills.
K.V.V.Saatyanarayana Raju, MLC and chairman of Chaitanya Educational Group, recalled how the reputed Biocon company started with an investment of just Rs.1 lakh and wanted management students to follow this. Earlier, Ms. Purandeswari released the souvenir. P.V.G.D. Prasada Reddy, Registrar, AU, and Sriram Ravi Chander of Confederation of Indian Industries, G. Sumana, Founder, Priya Darsani organisation and others participated.
