‘Inculcate legal awareness among girls’

District Legal Services Authority secretary and Senior Civil Judge S. Damodar Rao on Monday called for awareness campaign among girl students on their rights.

He was speaking to students of A.S. Raja Junior College as part of legal awareness programme conducted by DLSA.

Mr. Rao called upon girl students to be vigilant and know about their rights. Later he explained some provisions of Consumer Protection Act.

Deputy Commissioner of State Sales Tax K. Sobnachalam explained to students about the implications of Goods and Service Tax which the government brought into force from July 1.

Forum of Legal Professionals president Kuppili Muralidhar said the girl children must not be indifferent to their rights. He said complaints regarding damaged goods noticed after purchase must be filed within the stipulated period.

Consumer Protection Council secretary P.K. Lingeswara Rao and large number of girl students participated in the programme.
