A group of students of Prajwal Vani Welfare Society were seen communicating through gestures at a programme organised by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in association with S.A.R.I. Foundation here on Saturday.
The differently-abled boys and girls were all smiles and visibly excited to meet the top Telecom officials of the district and receive 3G SIMS free of cost from them. They seemed to be all the more excited to pose for pictures with the officials and expressed their gratitude to them through sign language.
Senior General Manager, Telecom District, R.M.M. Krishna expressed the view that the 3G SIMS would be useful to these differently-abled as they can communicate with their counterparts on the 3G phones in the sign language. He appreciated the services of S.A.R.I. Foundation towards the educational needs of underprivileged children.
K.V.L. Suchitra of S.A.R.I. Foundation, who had secured the ‘best teacher’ award in the past, appreciated the gesture of BSNL for providing the SIMs free of cost to the students.
Chairman of the foundation Nanduri Prabhakar Rao said that BSNL was the first service provider to distribute 3G SIMS free to the differently-abled persons.
