Forest guard trainees from Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh came on a study tour to the city. The trainees, led by Forest Range Officer LP Soni, visited the Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary and the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park on Wednesday.
The trainees were excited about the trip to zoo and Kambalakonda.
“The zoo is very good from the forestry point of view. It is well established with a natural setting,” said Mr. Soni. Zoo Curator B. Vijay Kumar explained to the visitors about the objective and importance of zoos in conservation including ex-situ and in-situ linkages for conservation of wildlife to maintain biodiversity.
Vast expanse
“They spent about half-a-day at the zoo and were excited on seeing the vast expanse and the large number of animals of different species. The zoo in their home State is comparatively small,” Mr. Vijay Kumar said.
Later in the evening, the visiting forest guard trainees visited the Kursura Submarine Museum on Beach Road. They will return to Chhattisgarh on May 6.
